Director, Surgical Services Job Opening in Colorado

The Director of Surgical Services assumes the responsibility for all functions in; Same Day Care (SDC), Operating Room (OR), Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Sterile Processing. Develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for surgical service programs. The Department Director is essential in carrying out the Mission/Vision/Values of Southwest Health System, Inc. by translating that constancy of purpose to the work of the department. Department managers create the environment that allows employees to reach their highest level of achievement, leading to the overall success of the organization. 

Manages all staff in the SDC, OR, PACU and Sterile Processing Departments, provides management of operational and clinical activities. Consults with staff, physicians and the CNO on clinical issues and compliance of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met. Meets budget and productivity standards. Assures compliance with trauma designation and all accrediting bodies. 

Nursing Requirements: 

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Associate degree required, bachelor degree preferred. 
• Current Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of Colorado. Compact license accepted and Colorado License must be obtained within first 90 days of hire. 
• 5 years experience in Surgical Nursing preferred. 
• Three years nursing management experience. 
• Current BLS Certification. 

• Current PALS certification within 6 months of hire. 
• Current ACLS certification within 6 months of hire. 
• Certified Surgical Nurse (CNOR) encouraged and recommended. 

Language Skills: 

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 

• Additional languages preferred. 
• Excellent customer service skills. 

Skills: 

• Basic computer knowledge. 
• Strong communication skills.
