Medical Surgical / ICU Director Job Opening in Tennessee

Job opening in a 100+ bed hospital located within 2 hrs of Great Smoky Mountains area of TN, just over an hour from Knoxville, for a Med Surg/ICU Director to join their team.  The Director will oversee about 45-50 FT, PT and PRNs.

Director of Nursing – Medical – Surgical / ICU 

$10,000 SIGN ON BONUS for qualified applicants. 

Core competencies for the position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Nursing is required. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
• At least 2 years of management experience in a Med Surg or ICU department.
• Current RN License in the State of TN or another compact state is required.
• BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required at the time of hire.
• ACLS is required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervisor.

Hiking, fishing and camping are also available at Bald River Falls and in the Cherokee National Forest.
