Chief Medical Officer (CMO) job opening located in New Mexico.

For hospital with mostly primary and some secondary services. Reports to CEO and part of Senior team. This position is to assist the VP/ Director of Case Management & VP/Director of Quality and be a physician executive with clinical skills at the forefront of clinical care delivery design and innovation, also working closely with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief HR Officer (CHRO). The CMO will transform both quality and safety within the integrated delivery system and optimize care provided to all patients within the hospital system They will have intimate knowledge of clinical practice, quality and patient safety, progressive care delivery models with a strong business acumen. The CMO will have the ability to build trust with colleagues. 

• A Doctor of Medicine degree is required and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program in any medical specialty with appropriate board certification.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine.
• An advanced degree in healthcare or business- MBA/MPH or MMM or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5 years of related physician leadership experience required in a hospital or hospital based practice and at least 10 years practice of clinical medicine.
• Serves on the Quality Committee of the Board of Trustees.

CMO participates in education of medical staff and oversees quality issues and monitors the use of evidence-based medicine. The CMO ensures the hospital meets necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditation along with senior /executive staff.  This person through staff will maintain all required licenses and certifications for the medical stadff. The CMO’s first goal is to curb the 48+ hour stays in the ER into either admissions or discharges. The next goal is to address longer LOS in identified cases and finally continued tracking and working to meeting the quality criteria and compliance.
