Job opening in a small hospital located in Western Kentucky, for a Med Surg/ICU Director to join their team. They have 30 beds on the med/surg floor and 6 in the ICU. FTE’s will be around 20. They also run an average census of 8 on the floor.
This leader has the responsibility to develop a strategic directional course for his/her department(s) which coincides with Hospital’s overall strategic plan as well as new applications and systems essential to business directions. Charged with the goal of continuous quality improvement, s/he must provide leadership and supervision to the staff members supervised.
With responsibility for the overall administrative and clinical (if appropriate) direction and management of their department(s), this leader facilitates the development and delivery of excellence in service practice by evaluating and coordinating the services delivered. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to direct the services appropriate for the patient/family population being served. Integrates the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions.
This leader is also responsible for providing coverage as House Supervisor when the need arises.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from school of nursing with associate degree in nursing, bachelor’s degree preferred. Must have current RN licensure, ACLS, and BLS certification. Three years previous management experience is preferred. Must possess the ability to supervise and oversee the functions and staff for areas of responsibility. Develop and implement training programs to meet the training needs of his/her staff. Communicate effectively both orally and in written form with all levels of internal and external customers of the departments supervised. Develop and implement policy and procedures consistent with hospital, state and federal regulatory guidelines. Develop collaboration and support teamwork in inter and intradepartmental activities.

The nearby Red River is a favorite for canoeing. The city has a popular city park system as well. They even have a fitness and aquatics facility for families and individuals. The center houses two indoor swimming pools, two racquetball courts, an aerobic center, fitness center, indoor walking track and cardiovascular center.
