Infection Control Coordinator Job Opening in Idaho

Job opening in a 100+ bed hospital, located in Western ID, along the Snake River and right on the border of WA, for an experienced Infection Control Coordinator to join their team. This position reports to the Director of Quality.  The role does not require a RN.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Infection Control Coordinator operates under the direction of the Infection Control Committee and is mentored by an epidemiologist, Infectious Disease Practitioner, or an APIC Certified Infection Prevention Practitioner. The position is supervised by the Director of Quality, or designee.  The role of the Infection Control Coordinator is to provide education, consultation, surveillance of infection control and prevention activities under the guidance of an infection prevention practitioner, Infectious Disease Practitioner, or an epidemiologist.  The Infection Control coordinator assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to improve patient care and safety through infection prevention and control.  The Infection Control coordinator must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate and develop process improvements that will reduce harm caused by the spread or development of health care acquired infections including, but limited to, CAUTI/HAUTI, CLABSI, C difficile, MRSA, SSI, PNA, and Sepsis. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

2 years of Infection Prevention experience with Bachelor of Science degree required. Masters degree in Nursing or healthcare related filed is preferred. 

Knowledge in epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, and sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices is necessary.  

Requires a knowledge-base in adult education principles

Infection Control Practitioner Certification (CIC) is required within 6 months of hired date.  Upon completion of this certification, this role will be re-aligned as an Infection Control Practitioner.

The mall houses a complementary mix of retail specialty stores, restaurants and service centers in a climate-controlled facility or head over to the Plaza for local retail chains such as Pier One Imports, TJ Maxx and Eddie Bauer.
