Job opening in a hospital located in Western MD about 1 hr from DC, for an experienced Inpatient Coder. This is mostly a REMOTE position. There may be days you are required to go to the hospital for meetings at your expense. Candidates MUST be CCS, RHIT, or RHIA certified and MUST have 5 years of Inpatient Coding experience.
The Inpatient Coder codes and abstracts medical records of all types with emphasis on inpatient coding, following a rigorous review of the clinical documentation, abstracts and assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS code sets and assigns the correct APR-DRG into the hospital information system. May also code other work types as assigned by the Coding Manager. Works in collaboration with CDI and other departments. Meets productivity standards on a daily basis. High School Diploma or GED required. Required at least one of the following: CCS, RHIA or RHIT credential. 5 years hospital coding experience which includes coding of inpatient records or a combination of inpatient and outpatient records using both ICD-10-CM and CPT is preferred. Demonstration of skills through completion of a hospital administered advanced coding test with a satisfactory score.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School or better.
- Must be CCS, RHIA or RHIT certified.
- CPC is not accepted.
Experience:
- 5 years: Coding experience which includes coding of inpatient records or a combination of inpatient and outpatient records using both ICD-10-CM and CPT.
