Job Opening for an OR Director – DH located in Georgia
The Health Services oversees the award-winning, high-tech Hospital, with a level 3 trauma center.
Its comprehensive network of health and social service facilities includes a home health program, 143-bed nursing home, retirement home, hospice and homecare program, dialysis facility, and rural health clinics in bordering areas. More than 50 physicians practice within the hospital, providing hospital and outpatient care in family medicine, obstetrics/gynecology, emergency medicine, and 20-plus other specialties and subspecialties.
During the past decade, the hospital has changed and expanded to keep pace with the dramatic advances in modern medicine and to meet the demand for new services in both the hospital and the growing central Georgia community. The location is 3 hours North of Atlanta /small town
- Reasonable housing
- Approximately 25-30 FTE’s
- The OR director reports to the CNO
- They would be responsible for scheduling.
- The director does not normally scrub in or circulate unless it is an emergent situation.
- Won’t be expected to take call at this time.
The budget is complete and in place. They will be responsible for budget expense variances. We recently converted to Cerner. It would be beneficial if they had Cerner experience. They are responsible for reviewing departmental reports such as return to surgery, late starts, room turn over time, etc
Facility
- 4 OR rooms plus an Endo suite with 2 rooms.
- No outpatient surgery centers outside of the hospital.
Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Vice President/CNO, the Director, Nursing – Surgical Services is an active member of the department that collects data, provides comfort measures, and care to patients. The Director, Nursing – Surgical Services is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the operation of the Surgical Services Department. The Director, Nursing – Surgical Services leads and directs subordinate supervisory personnel with responsibility for the functioning of assigned nursing care areas 24/7/365. The Director leads nursing-wide goal setting and evaluation and is responsible for the development of policies and procedures, and annual and strategic budgets for assigned areas. This position monitors the financial performance of the area and ensures that staff provides quality patient care that is age appropriate and culturally sensitive.
Basic Qualifications
Education:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing.
- A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
