Sleep Lab Manager Job Opening in Maryland

Job Opening in a hospital located in Western Maryland about 1 hr from DC, has a need for a Sleep Lab Manager to join their growing team.  Candidates must have either Sleep Medicine or Respiratory Therapy experience.

Job Summary & Duties

The person hired for this position will provide program development, and clinical supervision for all aspects of Sleep Medicine services across the hospital and the other facility. Experience in both management of an AASM accredited sleep laboratory and clinical sleep medicine practice in an integrated sleep clinic is desired.  The Manager will be overseeing 10 FTEs.

We are in the process of merging a superior hospital-based sleep testing center with a highly regarded, full spectrum clinical sleep practice, and to bring an even broader range of services into a unified facility.  This process will involve moving the clinical practice and a portion of the in-hospital testing, along with the development of the sleep practice’s portion of a system-wide EHR change.

The Sleep Medicine Manager will provides oversight and management to optimize maintaining excellence in the transition of a highly successful hospital-based sleep laboratory and a busy, top-flight clinical sleep practice to an integrated model that will include provision of the full gamut of advanced sleep studies (pediatrics, adaptive servo-ventilation, adult CO2 monitoring, MSLT/MWT).

The Sleep Medicine Manager will work closely with an experienced Medical Director to create streamlined management of the full range of sleep disorders, including insomnia, parasomnias, movement disorders/RLS, narcolepsy and sleep disordered breathing.

The Manager will optimize work-flow and maintain a positive administrative interface between a large hospital run physician organization, an open sleep laboratory which contracts with all Board Certified sleep specialists in that hospital community to provide study interpretation, and a subspecialty practice in sleep medicine, including working closely with administration to identify and organize suitable benchmarks for inclusion in ACO, structuring our new Electronic Health Record to meet the needs of the Sleep Clinic, maintaining standards for Accreditation, management of a fleet of HSAT units, day to day office manager duties. Manages program to screen and capture hospital patients with probable sleep apnea for further evaluation and treatment.

This individual will provide management of daily operations of the MHP Sleep Medicine practice and the integrated MHP Sleep Center to include administrative, financial, personnel, operations and customer service functions. The manager will lead all PI initiatives, and ensure accreditation standards as well as successful accreditation. The manager works in conjunction with all clinical staff and medical director and ensures all clinical programs are current with best practices, focused on Population Health and TCOC and Quadruple Aim Goals. Plans, programs, allocates, and assigns duties to the employees.

The Sleep Medicine Manager will assure that all sleep services are in compliance with professional clinical standards, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Ensures adherence to the healthcare organization policies and procedures.

Experience & Education

This position requires a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare related field or comparable experience. Completion of 2 or 4 year degree in Respiratory Therapy or Sleep Medicine (there is no degree in sleep medicine, and honestly, a degree in business with experience in sleep lab/practice management would be very reasonable). Experience in Sleep Medicine Practice and Sleep Lab strongly preferred. Maryland licensure in field. Two years managerial/leadership experience in healthcare setting. Technical and clinical knowledge of sleep medicine.

Experience in coordinating, development and oversight of a DME unit within the sleep clinic is desired.

The candidate must have or commit to developing a thorough understanding of  Maryland’s unique reimbursement environment, and will use this knowledge to effectively create a sustainable business model.
