Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing Director Job Opening in Wyoming

Job opening in a small rural hospital located in Central Wyoming, about 3 hours from Jackson, Wyoming, has a need for an Inpatient Psychiatric Nursing Director to join their team.

Job Summary:
Continually assess and improve the performance of care and services provided.  Assure continual readiness for regulatory compliance.  Support and participate in performance improvement activities using the organizational methodology.  Develop and maintain annual safety goal.  Develop and participate in patient safety and harms reduction. Ensure a high level of customer service, including family centered initiatives. Facilitate the development and implementation of evidence based practice and quality efforts.  Monitor and ensure timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.  Determine and enforce policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by the medical center’s mission and applicable laws and regulations.  Provide leadership to develop goals, standards, policies or procedures to ensure quality patient care outcomes.  Coordinate and document attendance for self and staff members for annual organizational competencies, including radiation safety, laboratory safety, blood borne pathogens and OSHA, annual departmental competencies and training and educational for any risk or new methods or equipment that are instituted within the organization or department.  Enforce compliance with Infection Control policies and procedures.
The director must either have a Master’s in Nursing or actively pursuing as well as current Inpatient Psych experience.
Unit capacity is 13 – we are currently capped at 8 due to staffing limits – we are adult only
FTE count is 12.7 when fully staff
There is no manager, but  I do believe each shift has a Charge designated.
Average daily census is currently 7
Average length of stay is 17 days
90% are involuntary stays
Current RN Licensure from the State of Wyoming
Masters Degree in Science of Nursing
Prior behavioral health experience required
At least three years experience in manager director role
Minimum 5 years’ progressive leadership experience
CPI Certification required within 6 months of hire
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association
CPI Certification Preferred
Required Skills
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.  Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.  Analytical ability sufficient to evaluate data, make judgments and recommendations regarding operations and budgets, design protocols and generate well developed reports.  Professional knowledge sufficient to assure quality of care provided with multidisciplinary service areas.  Demonstrates organizational leadership and management skills.
