Job opening in a 150 bed hospital located in Oregon for a Infection Control RN.

Maintains complete records of infections of patients and personnel within the hospital using various sources of information including laboratory and radiology reports, patient medical records, computer data bases, and consultation with physicians and nursing personnel.
Detects, records, and analyzes healthcare-associated infections on a systematic and current basis with infections classified as to type, site, and responsible pathogen.
Provides surveillance/infection prevention investigations/identification of infections and outbreak management, using infection prevention principles.
Records and appropriately reports data on all infections including identification and location of the patient, service, date of transmission, onset of infection, any surgical procedures and their dates, and the attending physician.
Advices on hospital isolation policies and proper disposition of patients with either healthcare-associated or community acquired infections.
Records and assists with reporting reportable infections as required by the county and state health departments.
Reports identified infections, actions taken, and follow-up to the Infection Control committee.
Compiles data and graphically presents data to Infection Control committee so that trends in healthcare-associated infections can be monitored.
Collects and sends data to required reporting agencies (State, NHSH, and CMS) as necessary.
Collaborates with Employee Health department to determine necessary actions and activities for identified determination of potential transmission of infectious outbreaks.
Updates hospital infection control policies and procedures, and maintains current hospital infection control intranet site.
Inspects environment and observes personnel activities for the purpose of detecting possible infection hazards and to evaluate compliance with procedures approved by the leadership team, Medical Executive team and Infection Control committee.
Assists in staff development activities by teaching personnel the importance of infection control and by consultations with nursing units and in other departments.
Participates in hospital committees such as Infection Control Committee, Safety/EOC, Hazardous Materials Committee and others as requested.
Active OR license
5 years’ experience in healthcare, with progressive experience in field of infection prevention.
Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, Epidemiology or related field.
Certification in Infection Control.
