Manager, Benefits & Compensation, Connecticut
Position responsible for the management, administration, creation and development of all Hospital benefits and compensation programs.


Responsible for facilitating the coordination of compensation and benefits programs to support and align with business objectives and strategy.


Incumbent is accountable for staff providing support, research, implementation and development of people strategies in the area of rewards and recognition.
Influences return of people investment through compensation and benefits strategies that achieve the desired behavioral and performance outcomes.
Manages communication regarding compensation and benefits plans/policies to ensure the biggest return and to educate the employee population about both the content and the value of the programs being provided.
Assesses the need, prioritizes and assigns direct reports and assigned staff to work on various issues related to compensation and benefits that come to the department’s attention.
Ensures compliance with laws and regulations which control or impact compensation and benefits plans and policies.
Manages the preparation of compensation, and benefits for corporate and company budget purposes.
Provides Ad Hoc interpretation of company philosophy, policy and principles related to the areas of compensation, benefits and total rewards.
Determines appropriate levels of annual benefits premiums based on costs, funding and organizational philosophy.

Looks for ways to increase benefit offerings while maintaining costs for both the organization and the employee.
Oversees audit processes of all compensation and benefits programs for both compliance and competitiveness with the market.
Seeks executive level approval for items outside of the budget scope and for significant changes to existing compensation and benefits programs, policies and principles.
Develops and implements special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, management, finance, accounting or other related field required.
Prior experience working with enterprise HRIS systems such as Kronos, PeopleSoft, SAP or other large-scale HRIS system management preferred.
Three to five years in a prior human resources management position with increased responsibility.
Minimum of eight years directly related human resources experience, compensation and benefits specialist or analyst experience preferred.
Candidate will possess strong leadership, organizing and analytical skills; strong customer-service orientation; excellent communication, and decision-making skills.
Possesses proficient knowledge relating to all facets of compensation and benefit program development and design.
Demonstrates the ability to apply a broad range of knowledge to the day-to-day administration of a large compensation and benefits function.
Candidate will possess the understanding of competitive advantage and be able to develop a strategically designed approach to the creation of compensation and benefits programs.
