A hospital located in Western MD about 1 hr from DC, has a need for 2 Histology Techs to join their Lab. They prefer someone who is local but they MIGHT be able to offer a small relocation allowance for someone out of town.
The Histology Technician – HT be responsible for accessioning specimens and assisting Pathologists during gross examination. Prepare microscopic slides of formalin fixed and frozen tissue for diagnostic evaluation and perform routine and special stains. Under the supervision of the pathology supervisor, performs all technical histology laboratory’s functions which are included but not limited to accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, routine H&E staining, special stains, immunohistochemical stains, cytology technical functions as well as other duties in the area.
Completion of a NAACLS accredited histotechnology program or Associate degree plus one year full time experience in histopathology within the last three years under the supervision of a pathologist
ASCP certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or (HTL) required.
Knowledge of programming and operation of general laboratory. Ability to use microscope, cryostat, tissue processors, and stainers.
For HT, at least 1 year of experience. For HTL, 3-5 years experience.
