A 300+ bed hospital on the Eastern shores of FL near Melbourne, has a need for an experienced Oncology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team in a BRAND NEW FACILITY. You will be working with 3 Physicians to include 2 Medical Oncologists and a Physician who is the Medical Director and a Dermatologist, in their OUTPATIENT practice. You can expect to see an average of about 15 patients a day. The practice is growing due to a lot of marketing they’ve been doing. This is a Mon-Fri, 8a-5p shift, with no on call.
From diagnostics to treatment, the Cancer Center offers a full continuum of cancer care. This facility is a multidisciplinary team which provides a full service program including, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, a dedicated cancer unit, rehabilitation, patient support services, outreach and more. The cancer center is affiliated with Duke Health and has approval by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer which is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in diagnosis and treatment of cancers.
–Responsible for working in a safe and protective manner at all times keeping in mind that safety and environmental hazards are the responsibility of all employees for themselves, other staff members and patients.
–Contributes to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
–Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
–Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering appropriate tests, and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
–Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
–Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
–Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
–Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
–Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
–Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
–Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
— Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a NP/PA’s scope of work.
— Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising physician and/or the Director of Operations, Physicians Network.
