This hospital is located in the Panhandle of FL and has a need for a Trauma Physician Assistant to join their growing team. They have recently added a new General Surgeon as well as 2 Orthopedic Surgeons to their Trauma Team. The PA will be working in surgery with the Physicians as well as seeing patients in the office and doing some rounds in the hospital. Candidates MUST have experience with acute care or critical care patient population. This is a Level II Trauma. Sorry, no new grads!
The Physician Assistant will assist in medical and surgical care in the inpatient, outpatient and/or clinical settings. Participates in all aspects of patient care, and will have direct reporting responsibilities to the supervising physician of the respective patients for all evaluations and other duties performed.
Obtains history and physical examinations, including pre and post-operative assessment.
Identifies, develops and implements plan of care with attending physician supervision. Tracks patients’ progress and provides follow up evaluations. Makes appropriate referrals for consultation.
Completes appropriate documentation in the medical record of all evaluations, care, and services rendered. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Codes/charges according to documentation and CMS guidelines.
Provides pre and post-operative patient education to patients and their families.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree from a Physician Assistant program
Minimum Qualifications: 1 to 2 years experience working with applicable patient population as a Physician Assistant, preferred. Ability to greet and effectively relate to patients and staff. Basic computer skills. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to deal with pressure and complaints. Able to maintain professional demeanor in high stress environment. Presents oneself in a positive and professional manner through appearance and conduct.
Certification/Registration: Florida licensed Physician Assistant. Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians Assistant (NCCPA). DEA certification. Additional certifications as may be required by specialty, medical staff credentialing or hospital (including BLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.).
The PA will receive a competitive salary, productivity bonus, relocation assistance/sign on bonus available, CME time off, as well malpractice insurance covered.
Salary range is $100-130K.
