Facilities, Plant Operations/Maintenance Director job,Texas


Assumes responsibility for all aspects of facility management for hospital and physical plant, including repairs to facility and equipment. In addition, ensures that hospital meets compliance with all regulatory agencies.

Establishes goals and objectives that support overall strategic plans of the facility. Develops and manages the annual department operating and capital budgets. Directs daily operations of assigned department/s. Directs performance of staff. Selects personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination.

Possesses knowledge and skills in all phases of hospital and physical plant maintenance.

Assumes responsibility for repairing and maintaining all room equipment.

Takes a lead role in emergency repairs, safety issues, and in preparing for emergencies.

Assumes responsibility for operation and repair of boilers, chillers, and all associated plant equipment and utilities.

Ensures that all work sites and documents comply with JCAHO, federal, state, and local safety regulations.

Directs and manages the department, oversees and participates in EOC and safety.

Meets requirements of the Life Safety Code and achieves SOP and BMP.

Assumes responsibility and accountability for hospital/EOC objectives.

Meets and maintains all JCAHO, TDH, and OSHA regulations.

Demonstrates expertise and ability to meet Life Safety objectives and achieves up to date SOP’s, PFI and BMP.

Possesses skills in managing the hospital utility plan, HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems and demonstrates expertise in the management of emergency essential electrical systems.

Maintains safe environment.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities.


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field, or Associates Degree with 5 years of healthcare engineering management experience required.

Master’s Degree preferred.

7 years in healthcare field required, 10 years of supervisory or management experience in hospital of over 200 beds or similar experience preferred.

CMS, JCAHO and Life Safety Code experience.

Knowledge of State Hospital licensing standards.

Oversee and achieve hospital EOC, Safety and Utility initiatives.

PE ( Registered Professional Engineer) or CHFM ( Professional Certified Healthcare Facility Manager) preferred.

Salary Range: $80K-$120K / Relocation Assistance
