Director of Surgical Services job opening located in Missouri.
Summary:
The Director of Surgical Services is part of the hospital administrative team and assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Surgical Service areas.
- Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the Surgical Services departments.
- Budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of units.
- Oversees the unit’s operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
- Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.
- Develop and review monitoring activities related to the quality of nursing care provided.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Perioperative Services and other areas as applicable, such as Operating Room, Endoscopy, PACU, and/or Central Sterile Processing.
- Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of previous clinical leadership experience in a Surgical Services setting required
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive management experience preferred
- 2-3 years supervisory/management experience required
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field highly preferred
Certifications / Licensure:
- Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License and/or other licensure as applicable.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) preferred

- Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage and inspire a team
- Computer skills
