Chief Nursing Officer job, New York

250+ bed acute care facility, not for profit


Serves as the principal administrative officer for the hospital’s nursing programs. Provides operational oversight, governance, development and leadership of nursing practice at the Hospital. Responsible for creating a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved.

Together with the medical and hospital operations directors, ensures the integration of work for the various disciplines to provide excellence in patient care. Works with the Associate Medical Director & Chief Operating Officer in providing operational leadership to the nursing department and clinical services. In addition, this position works with the system Chief Nursing Officer to align and support system strategic direction for nursing professional practice. Serves as a member of the hospital senior management team and is expected to participate actively in institutional decision making.


  • Education: BSN and Master’s degree in Nursing and/or Healthcare Administration.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of progressively responsible health care experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • License/Certification Required: Current NYS license as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Skills: Leadership, financial/budgetary, communication
