Family Birth Center Director job, WA

A 140+ bed hospital in coastal WA, 2 hrs south of Seattle, near the Olympic National Forest and Mt Rainer National Park, is searching for a Family Birth Center Director.

Summary: Registered Nurse responsible for the 24-hour, seven days per week administration and supervision of the Family Birth Center. Will work closely with physicians, ancillary departments and the community. The Director is a member of the Nursing Administration Team and reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Requirements: BSN required; current RN licensure in Washington State; minimum 5 years clinical experience in OB/L&D/post-partum; and 3 years strong leadership/supervisory experience. Must be RNC or obtained within 12-months of hire. Current BLS, ACLS and NRP.

They are looking for someone with STRONG leadership experience, minimum 3-5 years and at least 5 years of experience as a RN working on L&D or postpartum, etc. They are looking for someone who has a strong backbone, someone willing to stand up to the Physicians since some of them are a bit strong willed and stubborn. There are about 4 OB/GYN Physicians. This is a closed unit, unionized position and self governed. There are approximately 23 FTEs and they see approximately 650 births a year. This number could grow in the future. They also have a Level 1 Nursery. With the Director’s help, they would like to eventually market their services to the community more to grow the business. There is definitely growth potential for the department and the Director. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer.
