CVICU Director job, FL

A hospital located in the Panhandle of FL, has a need for an experienced CVICU Director to join their team.  This is a 15 bed CVICU Department, 5 cath lab rooms, with approximately 45 FTEs consisting mostly of RNs, as well as CNAs and clerical staff.  This position will report to the VP of CV Services.  Candidates MUST have open heart experience and MUST have strong management experience!!

The hospital is rated #1 in all of Northwest Florida for overall quality heart care and is nationally certified by the Joint Commission as a Center of Excellence in the treatment of heart attack, heart failure and stroke.

Directs the services, activities, and patient delivery related to the provision of nursing care. Responsible for one functional area. Assumes the responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting and evaluating performance in assigned areas. Functions as a liaison with the physicians to foster support for the nursing/clinical services. 24/7 accountability to area of responsibility.

Position Accountabilities
Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities in assigned department(s).
Provides administrative oversight for services.
Performs and presents cost benefit analysis making appropriate recommendations for change and taking necessary actions to enhance performance.
Responsible for clinical education of staff to ensure competencies are maintained.
Monitors nursing standards and practices to ensure compliance.
Assures a continuous state of compliance with State and Federal guidelines as well as Joint Commission requirements and regulations.
Functions, as assigned, as member or leader for committees/councils formed to support the facility goals.
Assures competent patient care delivery to patients in assigned areas.
Provides for staff recruitment, selection, training, supervision, evaluation and disciplinary actions. Consults with CNO and Human Resources, as needed, regarding correction actions.
Establishes and implements departmental goals and objectives in keeping with division/BMC goals and objectives.
Develops, updates and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Participates in developing budgets; ultimately responsible for monitoring and supervising resources (staffing, supplies, etc.) in meeting financial goals of department(s).
Participates in the strategic planning process for department(s).
Provides input into development of CIS processes, education and communication for Nursing.
Monitors and ensure accuracy of recording on medical and Human Resources records.
Prepares, maintains, and submits all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Consults with CNO concerning management of assigned departments(s) and all related matters.

Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.  Master’s Degree in Nursing strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

3 to 5 years previous clinical experience in an acute care setting required.

2 to 3 years previous supervisory experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Ability to greet and effectively relate to patients, physicians and staff. Ability to learn a variety of skills. Clerical and computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs. Good organizational skills and the ability to set priorities and manage time effectively. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.

Able to maintain professional demeanor in high stress environment. Presents oneself in a professional manner through appearance and conduct.

Certification/Registration: Licensed RN by State of Florida. BLS certification; ACLS certification within orientation period.

Additional certifications specific to area of responsibility such as PALS certification, NRP certification and Dysrythmia certification within orientation period.

Salary range is around $100-110K
