Organizes and directs a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program and peer review program to assure continued accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization (TJC) and other regulatory organizations.
Interprets, explains and follows all regulatory guidelines, including medical staff bylaws, fair hearing plan, rules and regulations and policies.
Medical Staff services works closely with the billing department to solve issues relating to the providers’ credentialing that impact the processing of their claims.
Identify opportunities for improvement within the current credentialing process and to scale our credentialing capabilities and increase the overall revenue/profitability of the team through budget management. Stay abreast of changes and trends in the insurance industry that may have an impact on our work and the success of our clients
Maintains systems to identify (and disseminate to others) medical staff members and their clinical privileges, prepares and maintains other related records and reports.
Plans, formulates, and recommends for approval of the MEC the policies, procedures, programs and other strategies which will further the objectives and requirements of the MSO (i.e., takes initiative in planning and formulating strategies and plans).
Updates and maintains systems (physician privileges, medical staff roster, Medical Staff Bylaws, etc.)
Oversees the credentialing process for physicians, allied health professionals, and other health professionals/categories specified in the Medical Staff Bylaws. Works with medical staff leadership and hospital clinical staff for the approval and ongoing review of these practitioners.
Directly responsible for the preparation of department budget. Make budgetary recommendations and projections.
. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health care administration or related field.
. Master’s degree in business administration or health care related field preferred.
. Five (5) years experience in health care administration, preferably in a comparable organization.
. Two (2) years supervisory/management experience.
. Knowledge of credentialing processes and practices.
. Experience to demonstrate ability to deal effectively with physicians and meet organizational goals and objectives.
. Experience to demonstrate ability to manage functions and activities in medical staff services
CPMSM (Certified Professional in Medical Services Management) is preferred.
