Position Overview: Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their dedicated team. This role is vital to our continued success, leading the financial operations of our expanding health system, which includes three hospitals and five rural health clinics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong financial background in healthcare, exceptional leadership skills, and a genuine passion for serving a rural mountain community. 

Primary Responsibilities: The CFO will oversee all financial aspects of organization, including budgeting, financial reporting, cost containment, and revenue cycle management. This role will work closely with the CEO, and the Board of Directors, providing transparent financial updates and strategic guidance. The CFO will also lead and mentor a finance team of four direct reports, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. A key priority will be navigating the ongoing annual audit and ensuring the continued financial health of the organization, particularly during the upcoming opening of the third hospital. The CFO will play a crucial role in the strategic planning process, collaborating with senior leadership and other stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of organization. This includes participating in community events and building strong relationships with staff at all levels. The CFO will also spearhead the transition from some existing paper-based processes to automated systems, working with vendors to implement modern and efficient financial solutions.

Key Qualifications and Skills: A strong background in healthcare finance is essential, and experience in critical access hospitals is highly preferred, although not mandatory. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are crucial for building trust with the board, senior leadership, and the finance team. The successful candidate will possess a proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, thrive in a dynamic environment, and demonstrate a commitment to transparency and open communication.

Team and Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the CEO, and also to the Board of Directors. The CFO will lead a finance team of four, providing mentorship and support. Close collaboration with the senior leadership team, clinical and non-clinical departments, and our partner organization, will be essential for success.

Key Priorities in the First Year: Successfully completing the current annual audit, maintaining a strong cash position during the opening of the new hospital, and building strong relationships with the board, staff, and senior leadership team will be top priorities. Actively engaging in the strategic planning process and contributing to employee engagement initiatives will also be critical for success.
