Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, provides multidisciplinary leadership and administrative authority for multiple patient care units and departments on a 24-hour basis.  Assumes service line accountability and responsibility for the management and development of programs within the service line and for the operations and results in each designated patient care unit or department.  In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director, Nursing Services will be designated to assume the authority and responsibility for directing the activities of the nursing departments. Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.  Advocates for the protection and rights of individuals, families, communities, populations, healthcare providers, nursing and other professions, especially related to health and safety.  Adheres to the ANA Nursing Administration, Scope and Standards of Practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in nursing or bachelor’s degree in nursing, and master’s degree in relevant field of management, policy, or administration req.
• Upon hire: California Registered Nurse License
• 10 or more years of Nursing experience, with 3 years in nursing administration.
• Must have CA hospital experience working in Women’s and Children’s Services.

12 Labor rooms, 2 ORs, 23 Mother/Baby rooms

100+ FTE

1 Nurse manager over L&D and PP

NICU is managed separately by CHOC

This oversees L&D, Post Partum and the Women’s Pavillion
