Laboratory Director job opening located in Southern California.
400 Bed Hospital
Team of about 35 FTE’s with 3 Supervisors and will handle all of the lab work for the hospital and the ER. Lab handle all Blood Bank/Immunohematology – Chemistry – Hematology – Histology – Microbiology – Serology/Immunology. Reports to the CEO.
The Laboratory Director coordinates and is fully accountable for all daily laboratory activities including management of staff, insuring all hospital and department policies and procedures are followed, overseeing contracts with vendors involving equipment and products, and assuring the laboratory is reporting results in an accurate and timely manner. In addition, this person must also provide input and support to hospital wide committees and strategic objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Employee Management
Supports, encourages, and contributes to the professional growth of all department staff members
Selects staff that will represent the values and maintain the standards of behavior of AVH
Develops and implements job descriptions and performance standards
Evaluates staff performance
Ensures that staff is in compliance with licensure and other annual mandatory requirements
B. Laboratory Management
Responsible for all laboratory equipment
Responsible for the scheduling, performance, and reporting of laboratory tests
Responsible for the management of outreach programs and/or offsite laboratories
Oversees contracts involving the laboratory equipment and services
Accountable for unit productivity
C. Budget
Develops and recommends department operating and capital budgets
Prepares and manages FTE budget including developing staffing plans
Ensures that the department operates within budget
Education
Bachelor’s degree that will satisfy the requirements for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health
Experience
Minimum of six years of general clinical laboratory experience is required
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a general clinical laboratory is required
Required Licensure and/or Certifications:
Possession of a current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health
